Insert Coils & Ultra-High Fields

Because low-temperature superconductors hit their upper critical field limit around 23.5 Tesla, reaching 1.2 GHz (28.2T) requires a hybrid approach. The outer background magnet is built with traditional LTS, while the innermost high-field "insert" is wound using REBCO coated conductors.

Our REBCO tape exhibits exceptionally high yield strength (Hastelloy substrate) required to withstand the immense Lorentz forces present at 30+ Tesla, maintaining a stable, homogeneous field critical for high-resolution spectroscopy without degrading over time.
